“I exist as I am, that is enough,
If no other in the world be aware I sit content,
An if each and all be aware I sit content.
One world is aware, and by the far the largest to me, and that
is myself,
And whether I come to my own today or in ten thousand
or ten million years,
I can cheerfully take it now, or with equal cheerfulness,
I can wait.”

–   Walt Whitman, Leaves of Grass

― Dr. Seuss, Yertle the Turtle and Other Stories

‘Did he bite you?’ said Father.
‘No,’ said Frances.
‘Did he scratch you?’ said Mother.
‘No,’ said Frances.
‘Then he is a friendly tiger,’ said Father. ‘He will not hurt you. Go back to sleep.”

Russell Hoban, Bedtime for Frances

Old birds are not caught with cats. (Dutch).
